The best universities for accounting

The demand for accountants continues to rise as businesses need to determine its financial stability. Studying an accounting degree can lead to different sectors within the industry, like tax accounting, finance, forensic accounting, audit and more. 

The Good Universities Guide ratings look at specific strengths of Australian universities, offering insight to support and guide your decision-making when choosing a university. You can view the rankings in terms of how each university performs overall, or you can narrow down by field of study and state.

This month, we looked at which universities with undergraduate degrees in accounting performed best in the categories of graduate salary, full-time employment, and learner engagement. 

Graduate Salary 

This rating compares the median salary of graduates from different universities. University of New England takes the top spot with their graduates earning a median salary of $75,000, while Federation University followed closely behind with its students earning $74,000. 

Full Time Employment  

This rating compares the employment rates of graduates of undergraduate degrees from different universities. It looks at the proportion of graduates who were employed full time four months after completing their course. Charles Sturt University scored number one with 90.8% with University of New England right behind at second place with a score of 90.1%.

Learner Engagement  

This rating looks at the proportion of undergraduate students who felt they were engaged with learning at their institution — the extent to which students felt prepared for study, had a sense of belonging at their institution, participated in discussions and interaction with other students, interacted with students. Bond University ranked first with 84.1% while The University of Notre Dame placed second with 72%.
