Why start-ups choose coworking spaces

There are a lot of bells and whistles when it comes to the coworking sector but the main benefits for members are actually pretty straightforward.

At the end of the day, a coworking space is a replacement for an office. As visually striking as a space might be, as much as you might enjoy an onsite café, ping pong tables and Scandinavian furniture, the main draw-cards are the financial benefits.

According to David Pagotto of digital marketing agency SIXGUN, there are four reasons he gives coworking spaces the thumbs up.

It puts you in direct communication with other small business owners

The community aspect of coworking spaces isn’t just a catch phrase for marketing purposes. Connecting with other small businesses is positive on several fronts; it can keep you motivated, up to date with the start-up community and front of mind for being referred business.

It is cost effective

Plain and simple, a desk in a co-working space is much more affordable than a traditional lease. It also allows flexibility; if you have a specific task with a strict deadline, you can lock in consecutive days in a space to get the job done, then take a few days off until the next project without footing the bill.

It saves you time

When leasing your own space, there is a wide variety of costs that can add up quickly and soak up plenty of time. From utilities such as electricity, water, gas, internet to resources like stationary, printing supplies and furniture, a coworking space allows everything to be covered in one bill.

Generally, there are no formal lease agreements or contracts

It can be difficult to project the trajectory of small businesses and start-ups, thus leasing your own space can be rife with danger, especially if you end up with drastically more or less employees than intended. A coworking environment means you’re not locked in as you grow, leaving you in full control.

Co-working space Fishburners will be hosting the Sydney ACS Seminar, which will give attendees a chance to explore one of Australia’s leading coworking spaces and they will be available to answer any questions.
