The Australian Defence Force (ADF) is one of the world's leading military organisations. We fulfil key defensive roles as well as providing a range of peacetime services.

Career opportunities in the Australian Defence Force are as diverse as the skills you’ll learn. The Navy, Army and Air Force offer over 250 jobs; ranging from hospitality, trades and administration, right through to engineering and communications. The skills you obtain in the ADF carry the added benefit of being transferrable to the civilian world and many roles carry professional accreditation that is recognised beyond the ADF. Avenues of entry in to the ADF include trades and apprenticeships, direct entry, undergraduate and graduate entry level positions.

Work History: I am a seamanship and weapons expert. Joined in 2013, I have served in HMAS Perth, HMAS Success, HMAS Tobruk (as part of the decommisioning crew) and HMAS Brisbane (part of the commission crew). I served on 6 operational deployments during my career and been a Gunnery Instructor. I have also travelled the world and doing something different is what I get to do every day.

Job Role: Network Technician

Work History: Originally joined as a Communication & Electronics Technician back in 2005. I changed to Network Technician last year. I worked in units that maintain the navigational equipment that allow aircraft to take off and land. I also work with deployable IT and satelitte equipment, both setting up and maintaining. I have had the chance to play international sport for Defence. As well as deploy multiple times to places like Kabul, Afghanistan and Doha, Qatar
